A thing I did while stage managing Lewis & Tolkien that I haven’t done in the past was time each scene, every performance. I kept a spreadsheet of each, making note when the scene was either the fastest, or the slowest, it’s ever been. I regularly checked in with the actors about the pacing, especially if the same scene was long multiple performances in a row or if multiple scenes in a row ran long.
